Build High-Performing Teams with the TMP
Trusted by 2.5+ million professionals across 190 countries for 40+ years, the Team Management Profile (TMP) shows you how your team works together and how to make them more effective.
The TMP provides constructive, work-focused feedback that helps individuals understand why they work the way they do and how they can develop strategies to improve the way they work with others. The TMP encourages inclusion through a positive common language that allows team members to recognise each other’s strengths in the workplace. When used effectively, the TMP can improve performance at all levels of an organisation.
What is the TMP?
Overview of the TMP Model
Designed specifically for use in the workplace, the TMP takes into account the idea that people are different at work than they are at home. The TMP shows team members how their work preferences are formed and what it means for how they do their job and work with others. It brings clarity to communication, decision-making and collaboration styles.
TMP maps work preferences across four critical dimensions (known as RIDO: Relationships, Information, Decisions, Organisation) that combine to reveal 8 distinct Team Roles.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is TMP different from personality assessments like Myers-Briggs or DiSC?
TMP focuses specifically on work preferences – how people prefer to approach tasks, make decisions, gather information and organise their work in a professional context. Unlike personality assessments such as MBTI or DiSC, which measure whole-of-life personality traits viewed as stable and fixed, TMP measures preferences specifically at work. Work preferences can evolve across different roles and organisations, making TMP more actionable: insights translate directly to team situations, the focus is on collaboration and team building rather than personality typing, and no one gets labelled or pigeonholed.
What do you get with a TMP Profile?
Each TMP profile includes three things:
– A comprehensive, 5,000-word personalised feedback report covering your Team Role preferences, strengths and development areas
– Two years of access to the TMS Global Respondent Platform, with interactive tools, collaboration tips and free resources
– A Personal, Practical Discovery Workbook to help you reflect on your results and turn them into an actionable development plan.
Is TMP validated and scientifically credible?
Yes. TMP was reviewed by the British Psychological Society and is backed by 40+ years of research. It meets rigorous psychometric standards for validity and reliability, and has been validated across 683,000+ responses in 202 countries.
Can I become accredited to deliver TMP in-house?
Yes. Many organisations choose to accredit internal HR, L&D or OD professionals to deliver TMP across their teams. This provides cost efficiency at scale and builds internal capability. Accreditation includes training, ongoing support and lifetime membership in the global TMS Global practitioner community with no annual renewal fees.
Can TMP be used for recruitment or hiring decisions?
No. TMP is designed for development, not selection. It’s a tool for helping existing teams understand each other and work more effectively together. It should not be used for hiring, promotion or any pre-employment screening.
How long does it take to complete the TMP questionnaire?
Most people complete the online questionnaire in 20-30 minutes. The questionnaire is self-paced and should be followed by a debrief session to explain results, led by a TMP-accredited practitioner.
Can teams complete TMP remotely?
Yes. The TMP questionnaire is online and can be completed from anywhere. Team debrief sessions can be facilitated virtually or in-person, depending on preference and circumstances.
What happens after my team completes TMP?
Most teams participate in a facilitated debrief session of 2-4 hours, led by an accredited TMS Global practitioner. This session helps the team understand their collective Team Role profile, identify strengths and gaps and develop strategies for improved collaboration.
How much does TMP cost?
Pricing varies based on volume, delivery format and whether you’re working with a TMS Global practitioner or pursuing accreditation. Contact us for a tailored quote based on your needs.
What’s included in the TMP Feedback Report?
Each person receives a comprehensive, 5,000-word personalised report covering their Major and two Related Team Role preferences, the strengths they bring to team environments and leadership roles, potential blind spots and areas for development, and personalised strategies for working more effectively with others.
What’s included in the 2-year TMS Global respondent platform access?
You receive access to interactive tools, personal development resources, team collaboration tips, e-books and more. This extends well beyond your initial report to support continuous development over time.
What’s in the TMP Discovery Workbook?
With your report you’ll also receive a structured workbook to help you identify strengths and development areas further. It guides you to reflect on your newfound self-awareness, apply insights to real team situations, and create actionable development plans.
How does the TMP integrate with other TMS Global products?
TMP is the foundation of the TMS Global methodology, but it becomes even more powerful when combined with other TMS Global assessments and diagnostics. Depending on what you’re trying to achieve, team insight, leadership development, or managing change, TMP pairs with different tools to give you a fuller picture.
How does the TMP work for team insight?
Combining TMP with the Opportunities-Obstacles Profile (QO₂) and Team Signals gives you a three-dimensional view of your team. TMP clarifies work preferences and each person’s team role contribution. QO₂ shows how individuals approach goals, risk and uncertainty. Team Signals diagnoses how the team is functioning right now. Together, they reveal who your team is, how resilient they are, and where to focus to improve effectiveness.
How does the TMP support leadership development?
For targeted leadership development, combine TMP with the Linking Leader Profile (LLP|360), QO₂ and the Windows on Work Values Profile (WoWV). TMP highlights leadership style and energy across different types of work. LLP|360 identifies which Linking Skills matter most and how effectively a leader demonstrates them. QO₂ adds insight into resilience, drive and decision-making under pressure. WoWV reveals the values and motivators shaping leadership behaviour and cultural fit. The result is focused development that targets the specific skills, behaviours and mindsets that will make the greatest difference for that leader.
How does the TMP help manage organisational change?
Navigating organisational transition with less friction starts with combining TMP, QO₂ and WoWV. TMP shows how work gets done, where gaps exist, and how people collaborate during change. QO₂ explains how individuals and teams respond to uncertainty, so you know how to bring them on the journey. WoWV uncovers the values driving engagement and resistance. Together, they give you a clear picture of how to guide your people through transition with reduced resistance and sustained momentum.
